Very Japanese! Really?

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Yesterday we went to go see the Siro A show at Admiralspalast in Berlin.
Not really knowing what we were about to see we were not disappointed.

If you have been to Japan before you will immediately feel beamed back to Japan. A lot of memories will arise.

Not having been to Japan before you may wonder what these really charming and crazy guys are doing there. It may be a bit strange in the beginning but hey you`ll get an idea on how it could be being on vacation in Japan.

Either way it will probably only take you a few minutes till the show has got you (or you will be leaving because you are shocked by the loud music and crazy light effects like we saw with two 50+ women).

The show being very entertaining, technically challenging and very well prepared (imagine having to stand and dance on very defined spots in order for the show to work) amazed me and made me think. One would not imagine sitting in this show and getting the goosebumps (unless its from the show itself) however I got the goosebumps because the show really made me realize how connected we already are to the technical world and how close we really are to melt with cyberspace. The borders between reality and virtuality merge – not only in the Siro A show but everyday in our everyday life.

So what at first seemed very japanese and very unreal suddenly started feeling very real but charming and very personal. You can see the guys at Admiralspalast until this sunday the 12th of august.

GET IN BED WITH EXBERLINER
24-hour bed-in

Motivated by the harsh winter weather, or just looking for a way to sleep with as many people as possible, EXBERLINER is throwing a party… in bed.

Fri 7 Jan, 14.00 – Sat 8 Jan, 14.00 Noodles Noodles & Noodles Corp., Prenzlauer Berg

It’s time for winter sleep. Hibernate in style with EXBERLINER!

For 24 hours this Friday and Saturday we take over five “Jailhousefuck beds” at Noodles Noodles & Noodles Corp., Schönhauser Allee 153. We want you there.

Beginning Friday, January 7, at 14.00, collective hibernation is elevated to an art form, or at least an insomniac’s dream party experience. Check out the vast program of events, from yoga to films, readings to comedy. Bring your slippers and pyjamas. They might prove useful!

Entrance is FREE, snacks provided and drinks at bedroom prices.

Special thanks to Pink Flamingo and OhLaLa for their delicious brunch and to Granma’s Deli for keeping us cocktailed and caffeinated. Thanks also to realeyz.tv for their creative bed-themed film loop… and our favourite radio station, Motor FM, for their support.

RSVP on Facebook or check our website. See you there!

Sad but true! Last Opening of MMX today!

Friday, October 29th, 2010

The last show of the one-year project that is MMX. Show VII offers the tasty and interactive work of Risa Puno with her kunst vending machine and “Magic Eye” auto stereogram wall works. James Bullough takes the challenge of transforming the bar space of MMX while Juan Arata paints the underbelly creatures of Berlin’s nightlife. Geoffrey Garrison brings his new video installation piece that questions the space and time around a gilded frame. Screening program VII deals with the theme “the end is just the beginning”, appropriately fitting for MMX’s history. Fresh from Winnipeg, Lancelot Coar and Patrick Harrop take over the front of the house.

Valentin Hartweck’s installation will entrap the viewer as they head towards BitteBitteJaJa (collaborative video works by Ulu Braun and Roland Rauschmeier). The UV light installation by Jeongmoon Choi finishes the show with an atmospheric and labyrinthian end.
Tacos Berlin will be serving up yummy Mexican food once again at the Vernissage. Nothing less than a stellar last show with weekly performances by Argentinian artist Martin Molinaro.
