“Berlin Night Light Stories”

presents Kieran Behan and Heike Jänichen with Audio Support by C.love and Dirty Guy Lovis Leo Freitag 27.03.

| START: 19:00 | @ HOF 96 | TORSTRASSE 96 | 10119 BERLIN |

The newest and funky art happening addition to HOF96, “Berlin Night Light Stories“ will open its doors this Friday at 19:00. The two talkative and stunning makers Sara Aeon, the swedish hat and clothing designer, and her right hand Gabriela Oh!, the artist and creative director, who newly founded “Social Wonders“ together, have as a goal with this event, to create a platform for fascinating, stunning yet affordable art in hospitable and classy surroundings.

This Friday is their event premiere at Hof96, and for the initial evening, they have chosen the young and upcoming photographer Kieran Behan to show photographs matching to the theme Berlin Night Light Stories. As well as recently well-reviewed Photographer Heike Jänichen, who showed photographs at Hof96 in The beginning of 2009.

This evening she showsa whole other creative side or herself exhibiting bizarre yet captivating drawings, taken from the past 8 years of her New Year’s calendar series. The audio entertainment upstairs in the gallery will be coverd by Lovis Leonardo from the Dirty Guys crew, who has been spinning turntables all over berlin for quite some time, and downstairs in the “Tiny Disco“ your ears and behinds will be tantralized by miss C.love.

The concept is quite simple.
Being bored with exhibitions in over-architected spaces where one piece of art cost as much as 5 months rent, they ladies want to create  an opportunity for the “poor yet sexy“ generation to be able to enjoy art not only at posh and fancy galleries, but also on ones own walls. During the evening the guests will be able to accuire not only drinks from the charming and lovable António at the bar, but also to buy the pieces in the exhibition, which will be affordable to everyone, and not dependent of the thickness of your wallet ;)

Yesterday  we went to the opening of “Heaven must wait”. The exhibition shows result of a documentary of Berlin performance art subculture. And subculture it was! The audience went from punks to young and old people. Dogs with jackets and I am not really sure if I saw a cat or not. Beer and red vine out of plastic cups was served. Smoking only outside. When an opening is good you can`t see it from the outside because the windows are clouded. Fridays and Saturdays are a heaven for art lovers in Berlin. Especially in Mitte around Aguststr. you can literally fall from one opening into  the other. This one was in Kreuzberg and very interesting because it had this nice but also bizarre performance included.

Seeing all these characters inspired my friend Christoph to tell me about his plans to make a TV Series set in Berlin including many different characters whos lifes change in one drastic moment. More to come once he has the rights secured ;)

Anyways, go and check these things out even if you think that it might not be your cup of tea – it might very well be your bottle of beer though! This is Berlin.

So here it is – finally a really cold and white winter in Berlin. Reminds us of how close the east and the cold Russia really is. I am posting some pictures of our friend Jürgen Gässler who is a photographer in Berlin and has been here longer then the most of us – how does 30 years sound?! Check out his webpage: Cityslang
